Food Intolerance Tests: Why We Use a Blood Testing Method

How does a food intolerance blood test work?

We utilise world-leading immunoassay microarray technology to detect food-specific IgG antibodies to 220 different foods. This is a more effective and accurate way of testing for food intolerances than any other.

To start the testing process, we first see that food extracts are printed onto nitrocellulose pads on a microscope slide. Once we have your blood sample in our laboratory, it will be diluted and distributed onto each printed microarray.

We use this process to look at IgG antibody (immune response) levels. An increase in IgG to a certain food indicates an intolerance to that food.

Food IgG antibodies will attach to the food extracts if present and the findings are quantified using a high-resolution scanner before being calibrated against certain standards. This is all achieved through the use of our industry-leading reporting software which provides us with real-time quantitative data.

We advise a lead time of around 7 days to conduct the tests at our laboratory, meaning you could be just 1 week away from learning more about your body.
